Prerequisites: You MUST be a graduate of a previous MAG 40, or MAG 80 higher course. Proof of graduation and clean criminal record required--no exceptions.

If you have previously graduated from a
MAG 40, MAG 80, or higher level class, you may attend this MAG 40 for recertification purposes. Cost is $550.00 (half price plus a $50.00 range fee).

This is an intense, four-day, 40-hour immersion course in the “rules of engagement” for armed law-abiding private citizens. We will shoot on 16 -17 March 2023 and attend classroom on 18 -19 March 2023. Eric Lamberson will instruct the Range/Live Fire portion and Massad Ayoob will instruct the classroom portion. Range work on days 1 & 2 will include instruction in the use of the defensive handgun under extreme stress. The day 3 & 4 classroom portion that emphasizes legal issues, tactical issues, and aftermath management.

Eric will teach drawing from concealment, two-handed stances, shooting from cover, one-handed stances with either hand, speed reloading, and more with an overall emphasis on fast, accurate shot placement. The range instruction will culminate with a police-style handgun qualification course.

Massad teaches the classroom portion that emphasizes legal issues, tactical issues, and aftermath management. Topics will include interacting with suspects, witnesses, responding police officers, threat recognition and mind-set, and the management of the social and psychological aftermath of having to use lethal force in defense of self or others. Also covered is preparing beforehand for legal repercussions and minimizing your exposure to them. Situations in the home, at the place of business, or “on the street” will all be discussed in depth. The course will culminate with a written examination.
